7 Months Old!

Colin is 7 months old! He does new things every day and he is an absolute joy. Here's the latest on what our big boy is doing:

-He is about 20 pounds and about 26 inches long
-He is wearing 9 month, 12 month, and 6-12 month clothing
-He's still in cloth diapers exclusively
-He's eating solids 1-2 times a day, sometimes we are able to squeeze in a 3rd time
-He has liked everything that he's tried, but sometimes he loses interest half way through
-So far he has tried: avocados, oatmeal, bananas, green beans, sweet potatoes, prunes, carrots, peas, applesauce, and chicken (all homemade)
-He nurses about every 3 hours during the day. He's definitely still my little "Milk Man!"
-He takes 2 naps a day now for 1-1.5 hours each. The transition from 3 to 2 naps happened pretty easily due to our busy schedules during the holidays.
-He is so entertained by the dogs...he's always looking to see where they are and laughing at everything they do.
-He is soooo nosey! He loves looking at people, listening to them, and staring at them.
-He loves playing with his toys. We have a few toys in every room so that I can sit him down to play and do what I need to do in each room. I can also entertain him by handing him random objects like spatulas, measuring cups, and wooden spoons.
-He goes crazy jumping in his Jumperoo! I put him in his Exersaucer for the first time in a while and he started jumping in it too!
-He loves going for walks in his stroller. This is a great way to pass the time in the afternoon while we're waiting on his daddy to get home. He always props up his feet in the stroller!
-He is on the brink of crawling! He lunges forward to grab things and rocks back and forth on all fours. But then he falls on his belly and gets stuck and fusses. This happens hundreds of times a day and I have to sit him back up. It's only a matter of time until he coordinates those hands and feet. Here's what it looks like:
-Even though he can't crawl, he moves! The lunging forward and coming back to sitting action causes him to scoot on his booty and makes him mobile! It's amazing how he makes it across the bathroom floor during my 5 minute shower! I used to be able to put him in the bouncy seat long enough for me to shower, but I had to retire it when he started doing this:
-He loves to splash and play with his bath toys. He's even started pulling himself up to his knees in the tub!
-He loves to stand up and can play for quite a while like that as long as he has something to hold on to.
-He now has two teeth! Two days after Christmas he was having a rough day. He would cry and cry and he only wanted to cuddle. I felt of his gums as I did most days and sure enough I felt the tip of his two bottom teeth sticking out! He had a couple of bad days, but he got over it really quickly. I haven't been able to get a picture of the teeth yet, but they are so cute!
-And last, but not least, the best news of the month: Colin is FINALLY sleeping through the night! After several months of not seeing any improvement in his sleeping, we implemented our "sleep boot camp" right before he turned 7 months old. Within a couple of nights, he was down to one feeding a night and after about 5 nights, he was going the whole night without eating! He would wake up, fuss a few minutes, put his paci back in (something he figured out on his own during boot camp), and go back to sleep. He now goes to sleep around 8:00pm and sleeps until 7:00 or 8:00am. I had hoped for this for a long time and I'm so proud of how quickly he picked it up! He is getting so much more sleep this way and it shows! He is a happy baby who loves playing, laughing, and squealing all day long! And his mama and daddy couldn't be happier!

Here are some pics from his 7 month photoshoot!
